    Hourly Pay Rate/Salary
    Based on hourly staff, level 4: starting rate of $15.46 and midpoint of $17.78. Pay rate will be commensurate with qualifications.

  • Overview and Responsibilities

    The Print, Design, and Receiving Technician has shared responsibility for the daily operation of duplicating services, receiving, and mailroom. This position provides printing, layout, and design services, operates digital imaging devices and bindery equipment, performs receiving functions, and provides coordination of college printing equipment.

     

    Responsibilities:

    • CVTC publishing and duplicating:
      • Provide graphic design and project editing services for projects from internal customers.
      • Design and execute printing projects in accordance with College marketing standards.
      • Learn and maintain current knowledge necessary to operate digital imaging devices used in the duplicating department, specifically to include Canon Image Press, Lanier MP9002, and Ricoh 8120.
      • Learn and maintain current knowledge necessary to operate and maintain a wide variety of bindery equipment to complete jobs based on customer specifications.
      • Ensure equipment is maintained and operated within OSHA safety guidelines.
      • Schedule and maintain daily production flow.
      • Provide print cost estimates and advice to customers on efficient ways to complete projects.
      • Demonstrate commitment to customer service standards by greeting and assisting employees, students, vendors, and other customers in person and via phone or email.
      • Train work study students in operation of equipment and completion of print jobs.
      • Maintain stock level of supplies needed in duplicating department.
      • Prepare end-of-month accounting and invoicing of duplicating and mailroom accounts as well as monthly invoicing to XanEDU/Follett bookstore.
      • Ensure appropriate use of copyrights.
    • Printer service management:
      • Respond to device and user service calls on campus printers and multi-function printers, including helpdesk cases as assigned.
      • Perform setup, calibration, and routine repairs on production equipment.
      • Deliver paper, toner, and staples to multi-function printers and other print devices.
    • Receiving:
      • Unload incoming freight shipments.
      • Receive items into the Banner (ERP system) receiving system.
      • Deliver items to appropriate location(s).
    • Surplus equipment liquidation:
      • Coordinate disposition of unneeded equipment and furniture via online auction service, UWEC surplus, or other appropriate method.
      • Manage stating areas for timely disposition.
    • Mailroom:
      • Sort and distribute interoffice mail at the Business Education Center.
      • Conduct daily mail run to other Eau Claire campus locations as needed.
    • Provide orientation to new employees and students on duplicating, mailroom, and receiving rules and guidelines.

    Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Knowledge of and ability to operate and maintain digital press, and bindery and finishing equipment.
    • Ability to work as a member of a team as well as independently.
    • Ability to operate a computer using word processing, design layout tools including MS Publisher and Photoshop, spreadsheets, and related functions.
    • Ability to model integrity through self-awareness, personal accountability, ethical behavior, quality standards, and sustainable practices.
    • Ability to think critically by applying problem solving practices, acquiring relevant information, using technology and other resources appropriately, and evaluating alternatives.

    • Intermediate knowledge of and skills with technology including software programs for communication, data collection, and decision making including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, and Excel and design layout tools such as Microsoft Publisher and Photoshop.

    Qualifications

    • Associate's degree in Graphic Design, Printing Technologies, or related area.
    • Minimum of two years of experience in complex printing and publication environment.
    • Minimum of two years of customer service experience in a fast-paced and diverse setting.
    • Training in graphic arts or desktop services preferred.  
    • Experience with Managed Print Services (MPS) preferred.
    • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record, including meeting all requirements as indicated by CVTC’s insurance carrier.
    • Forklift certification or ability to obtain.
