  • Overview and Responsibilities

    In collaboration with the Academic Development and Services team, this position provides comprehensive support to students and staff in the Learning Center. Duties include coordinating and promoting the tutoring and supplemental instruction (SI) programs, maintaining tutor and SI leader records, data entry, preparing reports, and assisting with scheduling, supervision, and timesheet approvals for student workers. In addition, this position will help students navigate Chippewa Valley Technical College (CVTC), and perform other tasks related to the Academic Development and Services team. This position reports directly to the Academic Development & Transition Manager.

     

    Responsibilities:

    • Assist with coordination of tutoring program and program promotion in conjunction with faculty lead (i.e. recruitment, screening, interviewing process, training, scheduling, attendance, marketing of program, payroll services and time sheet approval, end-of-term reports, etc.)
    • Facilitate the use of resources for peer tutoring (maintaining appointment booking site, casual call booking binder, LMS Community, NetTutor, etc.).
    • Assist with creation of tutoring surveys; deploy, update, and prepare comprehensive reports.
    • Develop and maintain tutoring employee spreadsheet; assist with identifying budget for each tutor (grant, general budget, work study).
    • Assist with the maintenance of Academic Development & Services website pages.
    • Enter and maintain data and produce required reports, using appropriate technology (specifically Excel and BANNER).
    • Develop informational materials for students; Creates and proofs content of course promotional brochures, posters, and handouts in collaboration with the CVTC Marketing Department.
    • Provide customer service, assist with special projects, and provide general clerical support and back-up in Academic Development and Services as needed.
    • Represent the Tutoring program at open-house events.
    • Knowledge of general office procedures; prepare various materials-flyers, reports, memos, letters, and other communications.
    • Demonstrate commitment to service excellence standards.
    • Relate successfully with student and staff of diverse cultural, social or educational backgrounds.
    • Direct activities of work study students.

    Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Ability to use judgment, discretion, and decision making skills in dealing with confidential and sensitive issues.
    • Strong academic knowledge of English grammar, usage and spelling.
    • Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team.
    • Ability to operate, multi-media equipment, copy machines, and other equipment as needed.
    • Ability to model integrity through self-awareness, personal accountability, ethical behavior, quality standards, and sustainable practices.
    • Ability to think critically by applying problem solving practices, acquiring relevant information, using technology and other resources appropriately, and evaluating alternatives.

    • Basic knowledge of and skills with technology including software programs for communication, data collection, and decision making including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, and Excel.

    Qualifications

    • Minimum of an associate’s degree in business related area.
    • Minimum of one year of related work experience.
    • Experience working in a learning environment preferred.
    • Fluency in either the Hmong or Spanish language preferred.
