    Work Schedule
    This is currently a limited-term, grant-funded position through June 30, 2019. The goal is to identify funding to support as a continuous position. Scheduled hours are anticipated to be Mondays and Tuesdays 8:30 a.m. - 2 p.m., Wednesdays 9 a.m. - 2:30 p.m., and Thursdays 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. This position is customer-focused and may require the ability to adjust schedule to meet College, department, and customer needs.

  • Overview and Responsibilities

    The Career Services Specialist will assist students on all aspects of employment search and career planning. The Career Services Specialist will plan, develop, and conduct presentations and workshop to enhance students’ career and educational advancement. The Career Services Specialist will serve as a liaison between job seeking students, graduates, and employers to secure employment. This position supports administration, the Student Services team, and instructional staff and reports to the Director of Advising and Services.

     

    Responsibilites:

    • Manage and assist employers and students with CVTC’s Wisconsin TechConnect employment database.
    • Assist students in accessing career instruments and job placement technologies.
    • Assist students with employment searches, resume building, interviewing, and other career preparation activities.
    • Provide assistance to students in finding, procuring, and evaluating internships and service learning opportunities.
    • Serve on regional career service teams as needed.
    • Provide classroom presentations to program students to highlight career services.
    • Develop multi-modal delivery options for career based student success workshops using Kuder Journey curriculum.
    • Conduct student success workshops.
    • Assist students in making appropriate academic and career choices through course selection, career advisement, and career planning.
    • Process and evaluate criminal background checks for required programs.
    • Maintain CVTC’s Career Development webpage to ensure that resource materials are current and applicable.
    • Manage all aspects of career fairs; including assisting with career services mailings, promotion to employers and students, coordination of staff volunteers, and college-wide communication.
    • Coordinate, monitor, and implement grant activities as assigned.
    • Assist Director of Advising and Services with special projects as requested.

     Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Intermediate knowledge of and skills with technology including software programs for communication, data collection, and decision making including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, and Excel.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in a Human Services related field required.
    • Master’s degree in counseling area preferred.
    • Minimum of two years of related experience in a student/client services area; including experience administering assessments.
    • Post-secondary experience preferred.
