    Based on master's degree level of faculty salary schedule for 42-week contract: starting salary of $58,455 and midpoint of $59,608. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications.

    Work Schedule
    42/52-week contract; will build workload (the equivalent of 42 weeks) over 52 weeks (July 1 - June 30). Schedule will vary each term and may include day, evening, and summer assignments outside of CVTC's traditional academic calendar at various locations.

  • Overview and Responsibilities

    The Adult Education Services Instructor will support the goals of adult basic education students and collaborate with general education and program instructors to enhance the academic and college success skills of students in all programs at CVTC. The instructor will plan for instruction in a variety of learning formats, including adult basic education courses, co-teaching, customized in-class seminars, and in the Academic Services Learning Center. The instructor will be able to work effectively in a collaborative environment; is willing to innovate and change to meet evolving College and student needs; and demonstrates competency with use of technology that supports learning and teaching. An instructor maintains a flexible schedule, including availability for evening, weekend, or summer assignment, as appropriate. This position is part of the Academic Development and Services team and reports to the Dean of Academic Development and Services.

     

    • The current instructional areas include adult basic education, math, science, reading, writing, social studies, career education and basic computer skills.
    • Design and implement relevant and progressive curriculum.
    • Deliver high-quality instruction through the planning and implementation of effective learning strategies and environments.
    • Plan for instruction in a variety of learning formats, including co-teaching college level courses, student success seminars, and adult basic education courses.
    • Provide contextualized instruction for grant-specific activities, including “bridge” programming.
    • Provide instruction that meets adult learners’ academic and non-academic needs.
    • Manage the Learning Center and/or classroom effectively.
    • Support and assist with the development of flexible instructional delivery systems. This may include online instruction, hybrid, and telepresence. Teaching of alternative delivery formats may be required.
    • Create performance-based assessments aligned with competencies through formative and summative measures.
    • Promote student success through timely communication, growth-based feedback, and implementation of strategies that meet the needs of diverse learners.
    • Collaborate with community-based organizations to inform prospective students, promote college programs and services, identify community resources that support student needs, and identify outreach opportunities to serve relevant community needs within the campus district.
    • Assist with recruitment of students.
    • Meet professional expectations by maintaining professional currency and contributing to a collaborative culture across the College.
    • Ability to model integrity through self-awareness, personal accountability, ethical behavior, quality standards, and sustainable practices.
    • Ability to think critically by applying problem solving practices, acquiring relevant information, using technology and other resources appropriately, and evaluating alternatives.
    • Ability to communicate effectively by speaking and writing clearly, concisely, and professionally; practicing active listening; reading critically and adapting communication for audience.
    • Ability to value diversity by recognizing personal biases, adapting to culturally diverse situations, and demonstrating a commitment to equity, inclusion, and respectful interactions with persons of diverse ethnic, cultural, social-economic, or educational backgrounds.

    Qualifications

    • Master’s Degree in Education or related field. If all other knowledge, skills, and abilities are present, candidates in process of completing a master’s degree may be considered with an agreement to complete within a predetermined amount of time after hire.
    • Wisconsin DPI Secondary Education license in a core academic area (Math, Science, English, Social Studies), Special Education, or Adult Education OR BA/BS with 20 semester credits in an academic area may be considered.
    • Minimum of two years of teaching experience.
    • Experience in high school teaching and/or developmental education, preferred.
    • Qualified per CVTC requirements at time of, and throughout, employment as an instructor. Must also meet and maintain Higher Learning Commission (HLC) requirements, Faculty Quality Assurance Standards (FQAS), and/or other job specific licensing standards.
