Overview and Responsibilities

 

Chippewa Valley Technical College (CVTC) is establishing a pool of qualified candidates to be considered when adjunct and/or substitute instructors are needed to teach Sociology courses. Needs may become available prior to or during each semester. Program and course information can be found at https://www.cvtc.edu/academics.aspx#programs.

 

Upon successful submission of your application, resume, and transcripts, you will be considered for future adjunct and/or substitute teaching opportunities. CVTC will keep your application on file as a prospective candidate who could potentially fill a position when a need arises. Adjunct instructors are hired on a per course basis. Courses are taught face-to-face in classroom, lab, or clinical settings; online; or a combination of online and face-to-face.

 

All CVTC instructors are required to meet with students and/or attend meetings on-site on a regular basis. This means that all instructors, including online instructors, must live within driving distance of CVTC campuses. Campuses are located in Chippewa Falls, Eau Claire, Menomonie, Neillsville and River Falls, Wisconsin.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement effective learning strategies and environments.
  • Deliver instruction of high quality.
  • Assess student learning.
  • Advise students.
  • Maintain labs as appropriate.
  • Participate in college activities and pursue ongoing professional development.
  • Develop a relevant and progressive curriculum.

  • Basic to intermediate knowledge of and skills with technology used for communication, grade entry, and teaching; including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint and SIS.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Sociology or master’s degree in any area with 18 graduate credits in Sociology.
  • Prior teaching or training experience preferred.
